Kill The Dead is a fantasy novel from 1980 by Tanith Lee.

It was nominated to a British Fantasy Award for best novel in 1981.

In addition to being published in its own volume, it was also published in an omnibus, Sometimes, After Sunset, also in 1980, with another of Lee’s shorter novels, Sabella, or the Bloodstone.

Parl Dro is a ghost-killer--gifted with a seventh sense that enables him to find and banish the lingering spirits of the dead. Maimed by one of his targets, he nonetheless has his sights set on a legendary city of ghosts. Before he can reach it, however, he must contend with a pair of eerie sisters, a gifted but insecure musician, and his own past.

Tanith Lee works magic with words in this little gem of a fantasy. Her language is lovely, gracefully weaving mystery, humor, and drama together, and her characters are fascinating.
